Joan Fèlix /Viola - violin

Joan FèlixBorn in Menorca, he obtained the high degree in Viola, Violin, and Chamber Music with an Honour’s distinction at Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu de Barcelona. He studied with Alfred Malâcek, Jaume Francesch, Gonçal Comelles, Paul Cortese and Ashan Pillai, and he attended courses with Donald McInnes, Thuan Do Mihn, Leon Spirer and Pedro León, amongst many others.

He also has a degree in Medicine from the Universitat de Barcelona and a Postgraduate degree in Medicine of the Arts from FUB-UAB and during 2009-2010 he teaches as a guest teacher on the subject at Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears. .

He is first viola and founding member of the Orquestra de Cambra Illa de Menorca. He is also first viola of the Orquestra de Girona, member of the new Orquestra de la Shubertíada de Vilabertrán and frequently collaborates with the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona (OBC) and the Orquestra Nacional Clàssica d’Andorra.

Recently he has performed many concerts with pianist Isabel Fèlix and Chamber concerts in festivals around Spain and France with formations like the Goldberg Trio, the Ensemble Gaudí, and the Ensemble Mare-Nostrum.

Since 2005 he is the principle viola teacher at the Conservatori de Música “Isaac Albéniz” de Girona, as well as being the artistic director of the Festival de Música de Maó.
